Online Policy Management for Missouri Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund

Williams and Company, an edecen Affiliate, developed a secure online policy management website for the Missouri PSTIF that allows the fund participants to access their policy information 24/7 and perform policy management activities online.

The website and related functionality provides the following services:

• Fund participants can now go online to check policy status and renewal availability.

• Policy renewals and new policy applications can be entered and submitted online.

• Supporting documents required for policy applications and renewals can be uploaded to the fund via the website. These documents are integrated into a document management system for fund staff.

• Participation fees (premiums) can now be entered online and paid for via either credit card or ACH.

• Transmittal of many documents and notifications to fund participants is now handled via email.

• Online correspondence with fund participants is automatically archived in a Microsoft Exchange data store for archival and search capabilities.

• A full suite of web-based administrative tools was developed for the fund’s staff to manage fund participant accounts and submissions.

Results:

The Missouri PSTIF has been very satisfied with the results of the project. Some of the benefits that have been seen include:

• Improved customer service through electronic communication with fund participants rather than mailing of paper documents.

• Less paperwork for policyholders through electronic document submittals.

• Quicker collection of policy premiums and fees from Policyholders.

• Fund participants have improved cash flow management capabilities, due to real-time payment processing.

• Improved sharing of electronic data with other state agencies.
