J.D. Gordon Advertising wins 2006-2007 Graphic Design Award

Sioux City, IA – Jeff Gordon, Owner and Creative Director of J.D. Gordon Advertising, has won a 2006-2007 American Instore Graphic Design Award for his cell phone packaging design for client Cricket Wireless.

Sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine, this national design competition spotlights areas of excellence, growth and opportunity for creative professionals in great packaging, p-o-p and instore graphics. Gordon’s work was one of 35 winners out of more than 500 entries in the competition.

His design work included cell phone box graphics, cell phone instructional booklet design, and cell phone animation graphics for the start up, shut down and screensaver.

“The goal of the project was to create high-impact, attractive packaging that clearly called out the key benefits and features of the phones, while presenting all of the necessary information in a clear, organized fashion,” said Gordon. He added, “Having your design work recognized by other design colleagues as being innovative is a great feeling.”

Rich Mackey, Director of Marketing for Cricket Communications, Inc., said, “Cell phone packaging can be very complex for the consumer – with technical terms, features, legal language, etc. We really wanted to eliminate that complexity and engage our potential customers in a cool, relevant way with our packaging.”

J.D. Gordon Advertising has been working on the Cricket Wireless account since 2005. They handle all local markets advertising and customizations, as well as handset packaging and other POS pieces for Cricket Wireless.
